The Compact Disposable Unit (CDU) has a very relaxed heat transfer process and unmatched ability to handle rapid intermittent bolus flows. A too small priming volume design may result in failure to address rapid intermittent bolus flows generated by manual rapid infusers such as push-pull methods, hand pump, syringe, or LifeFlow-like devices.
